That is a direct quote from the Esquire magazine, which bestowed on the 36-year-old British actress its annual “sexiest woman alive” title.

Beckinsale in recent years has played a rubber-suited avenger in the “Underworld” action movies, a sword wielding vampire hunter in “Van Helsing” and Adam Sandler’s wife in “Click.”

She has not achieved the mega stardom of, say, Halle Berry, the previous year’s Esquire pick for sexy star of the year, but in Esquire’s “sexiest woman” world, career status is only part of the picture.

Esquire describes Beckinsale as “beautiful, crisp, smart, tough.” And they have the photos to prove it.

Beckinsale’s parents were both actors, but her father died at age 31 when she was just a little girl. A former literature student at Oxford, her biggest grossing movie to date is the 2001 “Pearl Harbor,” in which she played a Navy nurse.

Past Esquire “sexiest woman” designees include Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Biel and Charlize Theron.

Cheryl Cole is already the face of L”Oreal after bagging a lucrative deal from the French cosmetics and beauty products brand.

Cole is leading the L”Oreal campaign in the UK and she will start with promoting a hair product called Elvive Full Restore 5.

Sky News quoted Cole as saying: “I have always loved the brand and have always wanted to say the iconic phrase: ”Because you”re worth it”, so to be given that opportunity is absolutely amazing.”

L”Oreal executives believe involving the star will enhance the popularity of their products.

Gayle Tait, L”Oreal Paris general manager said: “Cheryl is a glamorous, stylish and talented young woman whose warmth and charm has captivated the nation and helped to establish her as an inspiration to women throughout the UK.”

Cheryl Cole also got an amazing pay rise after she gave the ITV show ‘The X-Factor’ a huge ratings lift in the last series.

She is now being paid a staggering 1.2million pounds, up from 800,000 pounds.

Her new pay deal is a reward for helping viewing figures soar sensationally.

“Cheryl is the nation’s darling,” British tabloid The sun quoted an X-Factor source as saying.

“We may be living in the toughest economic times in decades, but when someone helps a show pull nearly 15 million viewers — as on last year’s X Factor final — then you have to pay to keep them on board.

“Cheryl made last year’s series. She gave us glamour and helped bring in the young viewers that we desperately need to woo advertisers. She’s worth every penny,” the source added.

With the pay rise, Cheryl, 25—wife of Chelsea and England footballer Ashley Cole—will earn almost three times as much as her rival judge Dannii Minogue.

Coming just a year after she replaced Sharon Osbourne, Cheryl’s pay rise has proved that she really does have the X Factor.
